Darryl Raynard Richardson III, known to many as Lil Scrappy, is a talented American rapper. He was born on January 19, 1984.
Lil Scrappy was discovered by famous producer and performer Lil Jon. This happened while Lil Scrappy was performing at a bar in their shared hometown of Atlanta. He quickly became one of the first artists to sign with Lil Jon's BME Recordings label. Lil Scrappy gained a strong following in the Atlanta hip hop scene. He also became well-known across the Southeastern United States through his many mixtape releases.

Lil Scrappy's Music Journey
Early Days and First Album
Lil Scrappy's first album was released in 2004. It was called The King of Crunk & BME Recordings Present: Trillville & Lil Scrappy. This album was a special "split-release" with another group called Trillville. Half of the songs were by Trillville, and the other half were by Lil Scrappy. Lil Jon produced the album. It reached number 12 on the Billboard 200 music chart.
First Solo Album Success
Lil Scrappy's first solo album was titled Bred 2 Die, Born 2 Live. It came out on December 5, 2006, through Reprise Records. Around this time, another well-known rapper, 50 Cent, offered him a special deal with G-Unit.
Lil Jon produced this album too. It featured appearances from many artists. These included 50 Cent, Olivia, Three 6 Mafia, and Young Buck.
"Money in the Bank" Hit Song
The first song released from the album was "Money in the Bank". It featured Young Buck. This song became Lil Scrappy's second song to reach the Top 30. "Money in the Bank" climbed to number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It became his biggest solo hit in the U.S.
The second song from the album was "Gangsta Gangsta". It featured Lil Jon. The third song was "Oh Yeah (Work)". This song included E-40 and Sean P from YoungbloodZ.
More Albums and Label Changes
Lil Scrappy's second album, Prince of the South, was released on May 13, 2008. It came out through Real Talk Entertainment.
In April 2009, Lil Scrappy joined the Disturbing tha Peace label. He planned to release his fourth album, Tha Grustle, after finishing a movie. However, the album was not released for a while. In November 2011, he announced he had left Disturbing the Peace. He then said Tha Grustle would be released by Bonzi Records in 2012.
His second independent album, Prince of the South 2, was released on October 19, 2010. This was also through Real Talk Entertainment. He released a song called "Addicted to Money" in 2009. In 2010, he released "Bad (That's Her)" featuring Stuey Rock.
Television Appearances
Since 2012, Lil Scrappy has been a part of the TV show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. He has appeared in many seasons of this popular series.
Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Darryl Richardson had a challenging childhood. From a young age, he loved writing song lyrics. He would entertain people in his neighborhood with his rapping skills. As a teenager, he started selling his own homemade CDs and mixtapes. He sold them in local markets and clubs.
In the early 2000s, he was performing his song "Head Bussa" around Atlanta. By 2003, rapper Lil Jon worked with Lil Scrappy to re-create "Head Bussa". They also began working on a new album with Trillville.
