David Darnell Brown (born March 15, 1981), known as Young Buck, is an American rapper. He started his music journey by signing with Birdman's Cash Money Records in 1997. Later, in 2000, he helped form the hip hop group UTP with Juvenile and Soulja Slim. By 2003, he joined 50 Cent's famous group, G-Unit.

Young Buck then signed with G-Unit Records, which is part of Interscope Records. Through this label, he released his first two albums: Straight Outta Cashville (2004) and Buck the World (2007). Both albums were very popular, reaching number three on the Billboard 200 music chart.

In 2005, Young Buck started his own record label called Cashville Records. This label was first known as "G-Unit South." After some disagreements with 50 Cent, Young Buck left G-Unit Records in 2010. Since then, Cashville Records has released his new music. His label has also signed other hip hop artists like The Outlawz and C-Bo.

Early Life and Music Beginnings

David Darnell Brown was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He grew up in the northern part of Nashville. When he was about 12 years old, he started rapping. A few years later, he performed for Brian "Baby" Williams. Williams was one of the people who started Cash Money Records.

Music Career Highlights

Young Buck first joined Cash Money Records in 1997. He later moved to Juvenile's UTP group in 2000. With UTP, he released two albums: Born to Be a Thug and The Compilation.

In 2003, he left UTP to join 50 Cent's record label, G-Unit. His first recording with G-Unit Records was on the song Blood Hound. This song was part of 50 Cent's first album, Get Rich or Die Tryin, released in February 2003. Young Buck officially became a member of G-Unit that same year. He was also a big part of the rap group G-Unit's 2003 album, Beg for Mercy.

His first album with G-Unit Records was Straight Outta Cashville, released on August 24, 2004. The album's name is a fun way to say "Straight Out of Nashville," which is his hometown. This album had three popular songs: "Let Me In", "Shorty Wanna Ride", and "Look at Me Now". The album was very successful, reaching number three on the Billboard 200 chart. It was also certified Platinum, meaning it sold over a million copies. His second solo album, Buck the World, came out in 2007.

In April 2008, Young Buck left the rap group G-Unit. However, he continued to be a solo artist with G-Unit Records. In 2010, his third album, The Rehab, was released independently.

In June 2014, Young Buck was seen with 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, and Tony Yayo at the Summer Jam Concert. It was later confirmed that the G-Unit group had reunited. They also added Kidd Kidd as a new member. The group released their first EP (a shorter album) called The Beauty of Independence on August 25, 2014. Young Buck continued to make new music with G-Unit. He also released his mixtape Before The Beast. After that, G-Unit released their second EP, The Beast Is G-Unit.
