Lila Lalauni was born in Athens, Greece. Her grandfather, Timotheos Xanthopoulos, was also a composer, so music was a big part of her family. She grew up to become a very important figure in classical music.

Early Life and Musical Training

Lila started her musical journey by studying piano at the Vienna Academy. After that, she learned how to compose music with a teacher named Robert Konta. She was very dedicated to her studies.

In about 1930, when she was still quite young, Lila had her first big performance as a concert pianist in Vienna. She finished her studies at the academy in 1934. But she didn't stop there! She went on to study even more with Marcel Dupre in Paris, France.
