Liao Xiao Jie (born Chinese: 廖俊傑; pinyin: Liào Jùn Jié; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Liāu Chùn-kia̍t), also known as Xiao Jie or Liljay, is a singer, actor, and dancer from Taiwan. He is a member of the boyband JPM, along with Qiu Wang Zi and Qiu Mao Di.
Before JPM, he was part of another popular Taiwanese boyband called Lollipop. This group had six members. They were all chosen from a TV show called Bang Bang Tang (BBT). The show looked for new male artists in Taiwan's entertainment world.
Lollipop signed with Gold Typhoon and Channel [V] Taiwan in 2006. Their contract with Channel [V] Taiwan ended in 2009. Liao Xiao Jie is now signed with A Legend Star Entertainment Corp.. This company was started by Andy Chang, a former director from Channel [V] Taiwan.

About Liao Xiao Jie
His Family and Pets
Liao Xiao Jie's family includes his parents, a younger sister, and a younger brother. His younger brother was also on Bang Bang Tang II. However, he was eliminated early in the show. Liao Xiao Jie also has a female Chow Chow dog named Lolly. He and Zhuang Ao Quan bought Lolly in 2009.
His Education Journey
When he was a child, Liao Xiao Jie went to elementary, junior, and high schools in Taipei. He then attended Takming University of Science and Technology. There, he met Zhuang Ao Quan. Because they became very busy with Lollipop, they later moved to Hsing Wu College. He studied Applied English there.
Music Career Highlights
Forming Lollipop in 2006
Liao Xiao Jie and Zhuang Ao Quan were both part of a Taiwanese breakdance group called Black Angle Crew. In June 2006, they both tried out for the Bang Bang Tang (BBT) TV show in Taipei. Both were chosen for the show. The first episode of BBT aired on August 14, 2006.
On November 27, 2006, the six members of Lollipop were announced. Liao Xiao Jie was the first member chosen for the group. They signed a contract with Channel V. Dora Ao became their agent. On December 2, 2006, they officially signed with EMI Capitol. Zhuang Ao Quan was named the leader of Lollipop. The group performed together for the first time on December 9, 2006, at the V-Power Music Storm Concert.
Early Music and Acting in 2007-2008
Lollipop's first EP, Colorful Lollipop, came out on January 26, 2007. It had six different covers, one for each member. Four months later, on May 25, they released a second EP called Summer's First Experience. This EP came with a photobook and a DVD. Liao Xiao Jie helped write the lyrics for the song "Summer's First Experience."
In the summer of 2007, Liao Xiao Jie and Lollipop acted in their first drama, Brown Sugar Macchiato. They worked with Hey Girl on this show. The first episode aired on July 15, 2007. Lollipop later said the drama was more about introducing the two groups. They released an official soundtrack with songs from both groups. Liao Xiao Jie wrote the lyrics for the drama's opening song, "黑糖秀" (Hei Tang Xiu).
On September 26, 2007, Lollipop went to Hong Kong to promote their soundtrack. This was their first overseas trip. Many fans came to their autograph session. Liao Xiao Jie also celebrated his birthday with fans at this event. In the same year, Lollipop started hosting their own show, Lollipop Gyashan, which ran from October 27, 2007, to April 19, 2008.
Lollipop's first album, Gyashan, was released on December 28, 2007. It quickly became number one on the Mandarin charts. Liao Xiao Jie helped write lyrics for three songs on this album. On January 26, 2008, Lollipop held their first concert at the Taipei Arena. The concert DVD came out on June 6, 2008, and sold very well.
New Albums and Tours (2008-2009)
Lollipop had been on Bang Bang Tang regularly since August 2006. The show decided to start a new season with new boys. So, Lollipop and other members "graduated" from the show. Their last episode aired on August 29, 2008. This marked the end of the first season. Lollipop members had been in over 500 episodes. Liao Xiao Jie sometimes returned as a guest or co-host for the new season.
After leaving Bang Bang Tang, Liao Xiao Jie started hosting Na Li Wu Da Kang. He hosted it with Zhuang Ao Quan, Liu A-wei, Apple from Hey Girl, and VJ Rong Jia. The show aired from September 7 to November 30, 2008. During this time, Liao Xiao Jie also appeared in The Legend of Brown Sugar Chivalries. He wrote lyrics for two songs in this drama, including the opening theme, "Cang Jing Ge". The soundtrack was released on October 3, 2008.
In November 2008, Liao Xiao Jie got injured during a dance practice. He still performed with his injury at the Music Monster Festival in Singapore and the V-Power Love Music Concert. At the V-Power concert, Liao Xiao Jie, Zhuang Ao Quan, and Liu A-wei danced with other Black Angle Crew members. This concert also marked Lollipop's second anniversary. A week later, on December 6, 2008, Lollipop performed at the Golden Horse Awards. Liao Xiao Jie wrote the rap for one of the songs.
In February 2009, Channel [V] started filming a new season of Bang Bang Tang. Lollipop members returned for this season, called Bang Bang Tang III. It began airing on March 2, 2009. The show ended on July 30, 2009. In 2009, Lollipop also wrote lyrics for songs by another group called Choc7.
Lollipop's second album, I am Legend, was released on June 19, 2009. Liao Xiao Jie wrote lyrics for four songs. His first solo song was also on this album. A concert tour with the same name started in Hong Kong Coliseum on July 4–5, 2009. While promoting I am Legend, Lollipop created special dance performances for different TV shows.
On September 12, 2009, a short film called The Great Escape was shown on Channel [V] Taiwan. Liao Xiao Jie was the main actor in this film, which was directed by Liu A-wei.
Liao Xiao Jie lived with the other Lollipop members from 2006 to 2009. They had to move several times because fans would gather outside their apartment. At the end of 2009, Liao Xiao Jie moved out and now lives with Qiu Wang Zi and Qiu Mao Di.
Forming JPM in 2010-2011
Lollipop's contract with Channel [V] Taiwan ended in 2009. Liao Xiao Jie and Qiu Wang Zi had been training secretly after leaving Lollipop. On July 8, 2010, they released a single called Dance Can Be Replaced. On September 10, they had their first concert in Hong Kong to promote the song. Their single was very successful. They won six awards by the end of the year.
On January 11, 2011, Liao Xiao Jie and Qiu Wang Zi formed a new group called JPM. Qiu's brother, Mao Di, also joined them. They signed with A Legend Star Entertainment Corp.. On August 26, 2011, JPM released their first album, Moonwalk. Liao Xiao Jie helped produce part of this album.
Liao Xiao Jie also continued his hosting work on shows like Fun Week Explosion and Apple Fun Week.
New Albums and TV Series (2012-Present)
On January 25, 2012, JPM released a Japanese version of their Moonwalk album.
On November 30, 2012, JPM released their second album, 365, with Sony Music Taiwan. The main idea of this album was "Love." Each song described different kinds of love. The album also focused on the "Golden Triangle" idea, showing the strong bond between the three members. JPM said, "We are the Golden Triangle, the best teammates and best friends." The album included an electro-dance song called "365 Days" made by Korean producers. Each member also had a solo song. They also worked with Kimberley Chen on a song called "Internet." Liao Xiao Jie helped produce half of the album. He also wrote lyrics for three songs and composed two songs.
Besides music, Liao Xiao Jie also acted in a TV series called 愛味男女 (Flavor Lover). He played the main character, Tang Ai Wei.
