A Look at Limón's Past
Puerto Rico became part of the United States after the Spanish–American War. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. After the war, in 1899, the United States government counted the people living in Puerto Rico. They found that 870 people lived in the Limón barrio at that time.
