Renaissance Peace Angel. Permanent exhibit at the National 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York City |
Lin Evola is an American artist born in 1950. She is famous for creating unique metal sculptures. What makes her art special is that she uses melted weapons, like guns or parts of nuclear weapons, to make her sculptures.
Evola's art often focuses on themes of peace and transformation. Her work has been recognized by important organizations and people around the world. For example, she has been honored at the United Nations. She also collected weapons to build a statue at One Police Plaza in New York City. Former President Bill Clinton was the first person to receive one of her "Peace Angel" artworks.
The Peace Angel Sculpture
Lin Evola's most well-known work is the "Renaissance Peace Angel" sculpture. This amazing artwork is made from bronze and weapons that are no longer used. It shows how something harmful can be turned into something beautiful and hopeful.
A Symbol of Hope
The "Renaissance Peace Angel" became a permanent exhibit at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City on October 22, 2018. Before this, the sculpture was placed in lower Manhattan after the September 11 attacks. It stood as a symbol of peace and healing during a difficult time.
The base of the sculpture is made of concrete. Many workers and volunteers who helped at the Ground Zero area after the attacks signed this base. Their signatures make the sculpture even more meaningful, showing a community coming together.
