Lin Shidong (Chinese: 林诗栋; born April 18, 2005) is a super talented table tennis player from China. He is so good that he became the world's number one player in February 2025!

Lin Shidong's Amazing Career

Lin Shidong started playing table tennis at a young age. In 2015, when he was just 10 years old, he was chosen to join the team for his home province, Hainan. This was a big step for him!

Joining the National Team

In 2020, Lin won a big competition called the national youth championships. Because of this win, he was invited to join the Chinese national second team. This was a huge honor! He was the very first person from Hainan province to ever be part of the Chinese national team.

Rising to the Top

By 2022, Lin Shidong had improved so much that he was moved up to the national first team. This meant he was one of the best players in China. That same year, he won his first major international title at a tournament in Budapest, Hungary. He also represented China at the 2022 ITTF World Youth Championships, where he showed off his skills by winning four gold medals, including the top prize in the Under-19 singles category.

Big Wins in 2023 and Beyond

Lin continued his winning streak in 2023. He won another international tournament in Amman. He also teamed up with Kuai Man for mixed doubles at the 2023 World Table Tennis Championships. Even though it was his first time at this huge championship, they won a bronze medal! After that, he won the men's singles title at the All China Table Tennis Championships. He also successfully defended all four of his titles at the 2023 ITTF World Youth Championships.

Lin Shidong has won many singles titles in his career. Here are some of his notable wins:

  • In 2022, he won the WTT Feeder European Summer Series.
  • In 2023, he won the WTT Contender Amman.
  • In 2024, he had a fantastic year, winning multiple tournaments like WTT Contender Almaty, WTT Champions Macao, WTT China Smash, WTT Contender Muscat, and WTT Champions Frankfurt.
  • In 2025, he continued his success by winning the WTT Singapore Smash.
