Linda Vero Ban (born in 1976) is a writer and Jewish educator from Hungary. She helps teach people about Jewish traditions and culture. Linda was born in Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, and she still lives there today.

Her Early Life and Studies

Linda Vero Ban was born in 1976 into a traditional Jewish family in Budapest. When she was a teenager, a big change happened in Hungary. Before that, under a system called communism, people couldn't freely practice their religion. After communism ended, many people wanted to reconnect with their Jewish identity.

Linda was one of the first young people to help rebuild Jewish life in Budapest in the 1990s. She played a very active part in helping people learn about and celebrate their Jewish culture again.

Linda went to university at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She studied Art History and General Human Studies there.

Starting Her Career

After her studies, Linda worked as a shlicha. This is a special agent or representative for the Masorti Olami movement, which is a worldwide Jewish organization.

Later, she spent a year in Stockholm, Sweden. She was part of a scholarship program at the European Institute of Jewish Studies, called Paideia.

In 2002, Linda married Rabbi Tamás Verő. Since then, she has been very involved in Jewish education and building community at the Frankel Synagogue in Budapest.

At the synagogue, Linda leads a Sunday School for children. She also helps with the Family Kabalat Shabat, which is a special welcome to the Sabbath (the Jewish day of rest). In 2015, she started BBYO Hungary. This is a group for young people aged 12 to 16, where they can connect and learn together.

Her Books

Linda Vero Ban is also a talented writer. In the last ten years, she has written and published 13 books. These books are for young families and teach them about Jewish traditions and identity.

Her books are very important because they are the first modern educational Jewish children's books published in Hungarian since the Shoah. The Shoah is another name for the Holocaust, a terrible time when many Jewish people were killed.

Some of Linda's books have been translated into many other languages. You can find them in English, German, Slovak, French, Russian, and Croatian.

One of her books, What Does It Mean To Be Jewish?, was even called the "Best Jewish Book of 2010" by a writer for the Huffington Post.
