The Linda Vista Community Hospital was once a hospital in Los Angeles, California. It is located in the Boyle Heights neighborhood. This building was first built for people who worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. It was known as the Santa Fe Coast Lines Hospital. It was one of four hospitals run by the railroad for its employees.
The hospital closed in 1991. After that, it became a popular place for movies, TV shows, and music videos to film. It was also explored by people interested in paranormal events. In 2011, the building was sold. It was then turned into apartments for seniors with lower incomes. These apartments are now called Hollenbeck Terrace.

History of the Hospital
The first hospital building opened in 1905. It was made to help employees of the Santa Fe Railroad. The hospital even had its own cows, chickens, and a garden. This provided fresh milk, butter, eggs, and vegetables for the patients. This first building had a unique Moorish-style design. It was designed by an architect named Charles Whittlesey.
The hospital was very successful. It started to grow bigger. The area around it, which overlooked Hollenbeck Park, became a hospital campus. The original 1905 building was replaced in 1938. The new building was designed in the Mission Revival Style by architect H.L. Gilman. In 1985, the hospital changed its name to Linda Vista Community Hospital.
Why the Hospital Closed
By the late 1970s, fewer railroad workers were using the hospital. More workers started using regular health insurance. The area around the hospital also became less wealthy. This made it hard for the hospital to make enough money.
In 1980, the Santa Fe Railroad sold the hospital. The hospital had 150 beds. To save money, Linda Vista had to cut back on some services. This led to concerns about the quality of patient care. In 1991, the hospital finally closed its doors.
What Happened After Closing
After it closed, the hospital was mostly used as a place to film movies and TV shows. In January 2006, the hospital was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is an important historical building.
In 2011, a company bought the hospital complex. The main hospital building and the old nurses' dormitory were renovated. In 2015, they became Hollenbeck Terrace. This complex now has 97 apartments for seniors with fixed incomes. It also includes a medical facility.
