Linntown's Story: A Look at Its History
The village of Linntown started in the second half of the 1800s. It was named after the Linn family. They owned many farms in the area.
At first, Linntown was just a few houses. These homes were located near the Lewisburg-Mifflinburg turnpike. This road is now known as Route 45.
How Linntown Grew
The arrival of the railroad helped Linntown grow a lot. New businesses started, like the Kulp Lumber Mill. The Lewisburg Chair Factory also opened in 1887. This factory later became Pennsylvania House.
Linntown's population grew even more in the 1920s. This happened when the Linn family's farms were divided into lots for building homes.
