Lino Edgardo Schramm Cayetano was born on January 4, 1978. He is a well-known Filipino politician and television director. He served as the Mayor of Taguig from 2019 to 2022.

Before becoming mayor, he was a representative for the 2nd district of Taguig. This was from 2013 to 2016. He also served as the Barangay Chairman of Fort Bonifacio from 2010 to 2013. Before entering politics, Lino Cayetano directed many TV shows for ABS-CBN.

Lino Cayetano comes from a family deeply involved in politics in Taguig. His father, Rene Cayetano, was a former senator. His older sister, Pia Cayetano, is currently a senator. His older brother, Alan Peter Cayetano, is also a senator and used to represent Taguig–Pateros. Alan Peter's wife, Lani Cayetano, is the current mayor of Taguig.

About Lino Cayetano's Family Life

Lino Cayetano married Fille Cainglet in 2013. Fille was a volleyball player for the Ateneo Lady Eagles. They first met at an all-star volleyball tournament in 2013. Their wedding took place on December 27, 2013, in Mactan, Cebu.

The couple has three children. Their first child is a son named Ino Philip. On August 8, 2016, they welcomed their second child, a daughter named Fille Renee. Their third child, Lily Saint, was born on March 3, 2018.

Lino Cayetano also played for the UP men's volleyball team. He showed great care for his father, former Senator Rene Cayetano. He donated a part of his liver to his father, who was very ill.

Lino Cayetano's Entertainment Career

Lino Cayetano studied mass communication at the University of the Philippines Diliman. He was a varsity scholar there in 1999. In the same year, he also finished a film degree at the New York University.

He started directing TV shows in 2003. His first work was for the reality show StarStruck on GMA. In May 2004, he directed an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya. This episode told the life story of his own father, and it was called Upuan.

Lino Cayetano then worked with Maryo J. de los Reyes. They directed two TV dramas for ABS-CBN. These shows were Mga Anghel na Walang Langit and Calla Lily. He also directed a singing competition called Little Big Star.

He directed many other popular shows for ABS-CBN. These include Aryana, Noah, and Tanging Yaman. He also directed Kung Ako'y Iiwan Mo and Growing Up. He directed several episodes of the series Ipaglaban Mo! and Maalaala Mo Kaya.

After a three-year break, Cayetano returned to directing in 2016. He was one of the directors for ABS-CBN's drama series My Super D. In 2024, after his time as mayor, he returned to directing again. He became one of the directors for ABS-CBN's drama series High Street.

Lino Cayetano's Political Journey

In 2010, Lino Cayetano decided to enter politics. He ran and became the barangay captain of Fort Bonifacio. Later, in 2013, he was elected as a Congressman. He represented Taguig's 2nd District at the age of 36. He was part of the Nacionalista Party.

One of his first actions as Congressman was to propose the "Iskolar ng Bayan" bill. This bill was first put into action in Taguig City. It meant that all high school graduates who were in the Top 10 of their classes could automatically become scholars. This scholarship applied to state-owned universities, including the University of the Philippines.

Three years later, he planned to run for Congressman again. However, he decided to withdraw his candidacy. This allowed his sister, Pia, to run as his replacement.

In 2019, he successfully ran for Mayor of Taguig. He took over the role from his sister-in-law, Lani Cayetano. He served as mayor for one term and stepped down in 2022.

In 2024, he announced his plan to run for representative of Taguig's 1st District. This was for the 2025 Philippine general election. One of his campaign promises was to create a third congressional district for Taguig. This new district would represent the Embo barangays. These areas were recently transferred to Taguig from Makati. However, on October 30, his application to transfer his voter registration was rejected. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Taguig stated that he did not meet the residency requirements.
