Where Duellman's Tree Iguana Lives

You can find Liolaemus duellmani in Mendoza Province, a region located in Argentina. It's the only place in the world where this specific lizard lives!

Its Natural Habitat

Duellman's tree iguana prefers to live in natural areas like shrubland and grassland. These are places with lots of bushes, grasses, and open spaces. It lives quite high up, at an altitude of about 2,260 m (7,410 ft) (which is about 7,415 feet) above sea level.

What it Looks Like

This lizard is quite small. It can grow to a snout-to-vent length (SVL) of about 8 cm (3.1 in). This measurement goes from the tip of its nose to the base of its tail.

Reproduction

Liolaemus duellmani reproduces in a special way called ovoviviparity. This means that the mother lizard carries her eggs inside her body until they hatch. The babies then come out alive, just like in mammals, but they developed inside eggs that stayed within the mother.
