Lis Wiehl followed in her family's footsteps by becoming a federal prosecutor. Both her grandfather and her father, who was an FBI agent, were also federal prosecutors. Teaching Law
From 1995 to 2001, Lis Wiehl was a law professor at the University of Washington School of Law in Seattle. She led the Trial Advocacy Program, which teaches students how to argue cases in court. This program won several national awards while she was in charge.
Media and Broadcasting
While teaching at the University of Washington, Lis Wiehl also started working in journalism. She was a reporter and legal expert for NPR's All Things Considered and NBC News. People soon wanted her to share her legal opinions on many different shows.

In 2005, Lis Wiehl published her first book, Winning Every Time: How to Use the Skills of a Lawyer in the Trials of Your Life. Two years later, she released The 51% Minority: How Women Still Are Not Equal and What You Can Do About It. This book won an award in 2008 for being a motivational book.
Since then, Lis Wiehl has continued to write many best-selling books. These include both exciting fiction stories and informative non-fiction books. Her most recent non-fiction book, published in 2022, is called A Spy in Plain Sight: The Inside Story of the FBI and Robert Hanssen―America's Most Damaging Russian Spy.
