Lis Wiehl (born August 19, 1961) is a well-known American author and legal expert. She has written many books, including both fiction stories and non-fiction books about real events. Lis is also a legal analyst who appears on TV and radio. She helps people understand legal topics. Her books have even appeared on The New York Times bestseller list.

Early Life and Education
Lis Wiehl was born in Yakima, Washington, in the United States. She went to West Valley High School in Yakima. After high school, she continued her studies at several top universities.
She earned a bachelor's degree from Barnard College, Columbia University, in 1983. Then, she traveled to Australia and received a Master of Arts degree in Literature from the University of Queensland in 1985. Later, she earned her law degree, called a Juris Doctor, from Harvard Law School in 1987.
Her Career Journey
After finishing law school, Lis Wiehl started her career as a lawyer. She worked at a private law firm in Seattle called Perkins Coie. There, she also wrote articles about legal issues for The New York Times.
Lis then became a federal prosecutor in Seattle. This means she worked for the government to bring legal cases against people accused of crimes. Her grandfather and father were also federal prosecutors. She also worked for the House Judiciary Committee during President Clinton's impeachment.
From 1995 to 2001, Lis was a law professor at the University of Washington School of Law. She taught students about trial advocacy, which is how lawyers present cases in court. The program she led won several national awards.
From Law to Media
While teaching, Lis also started working in journalism. She became a reporter and legal analyst for National Public Radio (NPR) and NBC News. People soon wanted her to share her legal opinions on many topics.
From 2001 to 2017, Lis Wiehl was a legal analyst for the Fox News Channel. She appeared on popular shows like The O'Reilly Factor and Your World with Neil Cavuto. She also hosted her own radio show, Legal Lis, and a podcast called Wiehl of Justice.
Today, Lis continues to appear as a legal expert on many news channels. These include CNN, CBS, NBC, and NPR. She also gives talks at colleges, universities, and literary events.
