The President of Namibia is a very important leader in Namibia. This person is both the head of state (the main representative of the country) and the head of government (the one who leads the country's daily operations). The President guides the government's executive branch, leads the Cabinet (a group of top government officials), and is the commander-in-chief of Namibia's armed forces. This is all set out in the country's Constitution.

Presidential Term Limits
In Namibia, a president can serve only two terms. Each term lasts for five years. This rule is part of the Constitution of Namibia. The first president to follow this two-term limit was Hifikepunye Pohamba in 2015.
Who Takes Over if the President Can't Serve?
If the President of Namibia cannot do their job, or if the position becomes empty, other officials are ready to step in. They would serve for the rest of the President's term.
Here is the order of who takes over:
- Vice President of Namibia
- Prime Minister of Namibia
- Deputy Prime Minister of Namibia
- A person chosen by the Cabinet (a group of top government ministers).
Before 2014, the country's constitution was changed. Before that change, the Prime Minister was the first person in line to take over if the President could not serve.
