List of current Indian governors facts for kids
In India, a governor is a very important leader in each of the country's 28 states. Think of them as the official head of the state government. The President of India chooses the governor for a five-year term. They represent the President in the state.
Even though the governor is the official head, they usually follow the advice of the state's elected leaders. These leaders are the chief minister and their team of ministers. So, the chief minister and their team make most of the big decisions. This is similar to how the President and the Prime Minister work together at the national level.
The governor has some special powers. They can appoint or remove ministers in the state government. They can also suggest that the President take control of the state in special situations. This is called "President's rule." Governors can also hold back new laws (bills) for the President to approve.
Who are the Governors of Indian States?
Each of India's 28 states has its own governor. These governors are chosen by the President of India. They help make sure the state government follows the rules. They also act as a link between the state and the central government.
