Bluey: The Record Holder

The dog who lived the longest was an Australian Cattle Dog named Bluey. He was born in Australia on June 7, 1910, and lived for an incredible 29 years and 160 days! Bluey spent his life working with sheep and cattle, which probably kept him very active and healthy. He passed away on November 14, 1939. Bluey holds the record for the oldest dog ever.

Many other dogs have lived to be over 20 years old, showing just how long our furry friends can be with us.

  • Taffy was a Welsh Sheepdog from the United Kingdom. He lived to be 27 years and 7 months old, born in 1975 and passing away in 2003.

  • Gino Hammerstrike Gilgamesh Wolf is another amazing dog from the United States. This Chihuahua/American Eskimo Dog mix was born on September 24, 2000, and is also still living, making him over 23 years old!
  • TobyKeith was a Chihuahua from the United States. He was born on January 9, 2001, and lived to be 23 years and 3 months old, passing away on April 30, 2024.
  • Pebbles was a Toy Fox Terrier from the United States. She was born on March 28, 2000, and lived to be 22 years and 6 months old, passing away on October 3, 2022. She was known for being a very small dog with a big personality!
