This article shares information about the Speakers of the Parliament of Iran. The Speaker is a very important leader in the Iranian government. They lead the meetings of the Parliament, which is also known as the Majlis. The Speaker makes sure that discussions follow the rules and that everyone gets a chance to speak. This role has existed since the Persian Constitutional Revolution began.

Who is the Speaker of Parliament?
The Speaker of the Parliament is like the chairperson of a big meeting. In Iran, this meeting is the Islamic Consultative Assembly, or Majlis. This person is chosen by the other members of the Parliament. Their main job is to guide the work of the Parliament. They make sure laws are discussed properly. They also represent the Parliament both inside Iran and to other countries.

The "Aging Speaker" Role
When a new term of Parliament begins, and before a new Speaker is officially chosen, a special temporary Speaker takes charge. This person is called the "Aging Speaker" (in Persian, Raiis-e Sen-e Majlis). This role is given to the oldest member of the Parliament. The second oldest member becomes their temporary helper, called the Deputy. Also, the two youngest members of Parliament become temporary secretaries. This tradition helps the new Parliament get organized smoothly.
