List of tallest buildings in Sacramento facts for kids
Have you ever looked up at a really tall building and wondered how high it goes? These giant structures are called skyscrapers. This page is all about the tallest buildings in Sacramento, California. Sacramento has 19 skyscrapers that are taller than 215 feet (about 65 meters). But none of them are taller than 430 feet (131 meters). This means they aren't among the 75 tallest buildings in all of California.
The story of Sacramento's skyscrapers started in 1925. That's when the Citizen Hotel and the Elks Tower were built. After that, no new skyscrapers were built for a long time, about 59 years! This "building break" ended in 1984 with the West America Bank building.
The 1980s and 1990s were busy times for building in Sacramento. Eight new skyscrapers went up. One of them was the Wells Fargo Center. It's still the tallest building in the city, standing 423 feet (129 meters) tall.
Since the year 2000, Sacramento hasn't built as many super tall buildings. Only two skyscrapers taller than 350 feet (107 meters) have been finished. Many more tall buildings were planned for downtown Sacramento. But most of these plans were stopped. This happened because of a big economic slowdown called the Great Recession and also because building costs went up.
Sacramento's Tallest Buildings
This list shows Sacramento buildings that are at least 200 feet (61 meters) tall. We measure their height from the ground to the very top, including pointy parts or cool designs. We don't count antenna masts. Buildings that are already built are ranked by how tall they are right now.
