Lite-Brite is a fun toy that first came out in 1967. It's like a special light box. You use small, colorful plastic pegs with it. These pegs fit into a panel on the box. When you push them in, they light up!

You can make glowing pictures with Lite-Brite. You can use special paper templates that come with the toy. Or, you can create your own designs on a blank sheet of black paper. There are eight different peg colors. These include red, blue, orange, white, green, yellow, pink, and purple.

Sometimes, pegs might get lost or broken. But don't worry! The company, Hasbro, used to sell extra pegs. They even offered new colors. Many templates featured popular characters. You could make pictures of Mickey Mouse, Scooby-Doo, My Little Pony, and Transformers.

How Lite-Brite Works

Lite-Brite lets you make a glowing picture. You push colorful, see-through plastic pegs into black paper. This paper blocks out light. The light box inside has a regular light bulb. The light from the bulb shines through the pegs. The black paper stops the light everywhere else.

When the pegs light up, they look like tiny LED lights. It's a cool way to make art with light!

Different Lite-Brite Versions

Over the years, Lite-Brite has changed a lot. There have been many different versions. Some were flat-screen, and others were 3D cubes.

Flat-Screen and LED Models

One version was a flat-screen Lite-Brite. It uses LED lights instead of a bulb. This makes it portable. You can take it anywhere because it runs on batteries. It comes in different colors.

3D Cube and FX Edition

There was also a Lite-Brite 3D cube. It was called the Four-Share Cube. This cube had four sides. It was also lit by LEDs. This meant you could play with friends. Or, you could save up to three of your designs at once. An FX Edition also existed. This version could spin and play music. However, it is no longer available from Hasbro.

Newer Sets

Today, you can find SUN 'N NITE BRITE Sets. These sets also use batteries. They are a modern way to enjoy the classic Lite-Brite fun.

The Future of Lite-Brite

Even now, Lite-Brite is still popular. You can find many websites online. These sites let you play virtual Lite-Brite games. It's a fun way to create glowing art on your computer or tablet!
