The Little Maple River is a cool river located in the central part of Michigan, a state in the United States. It's about 16.5 miles (26.5 kilometers) long. This river is a "tributary," which means it's a smaller river that flows into a bigger one. The Little Maple River flows into the Maple River.

Where the River Flows

The Little Maple River starts in a place called Victor Township in Clinton County, Michigan. It begins at the end of Cedar Lake.

Journey Through the Park

As the river flows, it goes right through Sleepy Hollow State Park. This park is a great place to visit, and the river is a big part of its natural beauty.

Lake Ovid's Creation

Inside Sleepy Hollow State Park, the Little Maple River helps create a beautiful spot called Lake Ovid. This lake wasn't always there! It was made by building a dam across the Little Maple River. Dams are structures that hold back water, creating a lake or reservoir.

Where it Ends

After its journey, the Little Maple River joins the larger Maple River. This happens in Ovid Township, which is also in Clinton County.
