The Little Pigeon River is a small stream, about 10.2-mile-long (16.4 km), located in the state of Michigan in the United States. It flows through Otsego and Cheboygan counties.

Where Does the Little Pigeon River Flow?

This stream begins in northern Corwith Township, which is in Otsego County. Its journey starts from the water flowing out of a place called Mud Lake. You can find its starting point at these coordinates: 45°11′23″N 84°30′07″W.

The Little Pigeon River then flows generally north and east. It ends its journey by emptying into the larger Pigeon River. This meeting point is in the southeastern part of Walker Township in Cheboygan County, at coordinates 45°17′32″N 84°29′08″W.

What Are Tributaries?

A tributary is a smaller stream or river that flows into a larger river or lake. Think of them as branches joining a main tree trunk. Tributaries add water to the main river, making it bigger.

The Little Pigeon River has a few tributaries that join it along its path. These are:

  • MacAndrews Lake (joins from the left side, looking downstream)
  • Burrows Creek (joins from the right side, looking downstream)
  • Mud Lake (this is actually where the Little Pigeon River starts)

These smaller water bodies help feed the Little Pigeon River, contributing to its flow.
