Little Shop is a fun animated TV show from 1991. It was made in both America and France. The series aired on Fox Kids on Saturday mornings. It's a fantasy comedy about a teenager and his giant talking plant friend.
The show is based on a 1960 movie called The Little Shop of Horrors. The original movie had some scary parts where the plant ate people. But don't worry! This TV show for kids made those parts much less scary. No characters get eaten by the plant in this version!

Meet the Characters and Story
The main character is Seymour Krelborn, who calls himself a "nerd." He works in a flower shop. Seymour's best friend is a giant Venus flytrap named Junior. Junior is super special because he can talk and even hypnotize people! But only Seymour knows about Junior's secret powers.
The flower shop belongs to Mr. Mushnik, who is a bit old-fashioned. Mr. Mushnik has a daughter named Audrey. Seymour really likes Audrey, but she doesn't know how he feels. There's also a neighborhood bully named Paine Driller, who often picks on Seymour.
Each episode of Little Shop tells a new story about Seymour and Junior's adventures. They often learn a good lesson by the end. The show also has a couple of catchy songs in every episode. Junior, the plant, even raps in his songs and talks in a cool, hip-hop style! There are also three singing flowers in the show, like a backup singing group.
How the Show is Different from the Movie
The TV show made some big changes from the original movie to make it more kid-friendly.
Character Changes
- In the show, Seymour and Audrey are both 13 years old.
- Junior, the plant, is a kind friend, not a scary, man-eating alien. He grew from a really old seed, over 200 million years old!
- Even though Junior has a huge appetite, he almost never eats human blood, and if he does, it happens off-screen.
- Junior can still hypnotize people, just like in the movie. He can also move plants and things made from plants using his mind!
- Sometimes, Junior helps Seymour without Seymour even knowing it, using his special powers. But he also likes to tease Seymour, calling him names like "meathead."
- The character of Paine Driller, the bully, takes the place of a scary dentist character from the movie.
- Audrey, Seymour's crush, is Mr. Mushnik's daughter in this version. She wears a bow in her hair and is always thinking about what job she wants when she grows up.
Musical Fun
Every episode of the TV show includes fun musical songs. This makes the show lively and entertaining for young viewers.
