Discovering Littleton's Past
Littleton got its name from William Little. He was a state senator when the town was first established.
Littleton College: A Story of Education and Fire
In 1882, a school called Littleton College opened for women. It started with only eleven students. The college grew quite a bit, with its highest number of students being 285 in 1908. Sadly, a big fire destroyed the college on January 22, 1919. Because the school did not have enough money saved, it was never rebuilt.
Historic Buildings in Littleton
Some old and important buildings in Littleton are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These include Person's Ordinary and St. Alban's Episcopal Church. Other historic places are Little Manor and the Dr. Charles and Susan Skinner House and Outbuildings. These buildings help us remember the town's history.

Littleton was once split between two counties: Warren and Halifax. But on July 1, 1974, people voted to make Littleton fully part of Halifax County.
