Livonia is a small community found in the middle of Pennsylvania, United States. It is not a city or town with its own government, but rather an "unincorporated community." This means it is part of a larger area called Miles Township.

Livonia is located in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. It sits near the start of Brush Valley, close to Hough Mountain and Elk Creek. You can find it where two Pennsylvania roads, PA 477 and PA 192, meet. The area is about 1,499 feet (457 meters) above sea level.

History of Livonia

Livonia was first settled around the 1840s. For many years, it was a quiet place. The community really started to grow and become busy around 1900. This happened when a special train track, called a railroad spur, was built to reach Livonia.

The railroad helped the area during a big "logging boom." Logging means cutting down trees for wood. The train made it easier to move the cut timber. From 1933 to 1942, a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp was located in Livonia. The CCC was a program during the Great Depression that gave young men jobs. They worked on projects like building roads and planting trees.

Nature and Outdoor Activities

Livonia is a great spot for nature lovers. It is very close to the Bald Eagle State Forest. This large forest offers many chances to explore the outdoors.

White Deer Creek is also nearby. This creek is very famous for "fly-fishing." Fly-fishing is a special way of fishing that uses lightweight lures called "flies" to catch fish.
