Lloyd Henry Gaston (born December 2, 1929 – died September 24, 2006) was a Canadian theologian. He was a biblical scholar who studied the Bible. He taught about the New Testament at the Vancouver School of Theology in Canada.
Gaston was also the president of the Canadian Society of Biblical Studies. He served as a pastor in the United Presbyterian Church in the United States.

Lloyd Gaston was born in Morgantown, West Virginia. He became a pastor in 1961. He worked at the First Presbyterian Church in Hamburg, New Jersey, until 1963.

Lloyd Gaston was married to Suzanne. They had two sons, Johannes and Thomas Christopher.

His Education Journey
Gaston went to the Horace Mann School in New York City. In 1952, he graduated from Dartmouth College. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with high honors in Philosophy. He was also part of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
After college, he spent two years in the U.S. Army. Later, he studied in Switzerland at the University of Basel. In 1967, he earned his Doctor of Theology degree from the University of Basel. This degree focused on the New Testament. He also studied in Jerusalem in 1970.
His Work as a Scholar
Teaching Career
Lloyd Gaston taught at universities for 40 years. From 1963 to 1973, he taught at Macalester College in Minnesota. During this time, he also completed his Doctor of Theology degree.
In 1973, he became a visiting professor at the United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. Later that year, he joined the Vancouver School of Theology. He was an associate professor there until 1978. From 1978 until his retirement in 1995, he was a full professor. Even after retiring, he continued to teach as a professor emeritus.
Leading Biblical Studies
From 1986 to 1987, Gaston was the president of the Canadian Society of Biblical Studies (CSBS). This is an important group for people who study the Bible in Canada.
