Llyn Bodgynydd is a beautiful lake located in the Gwydir Forest in North Wales. It covers an area of about 14 acres (about 5.7 hectares). The lake sits high up, at 822 feet (250 meters) above sea level.

Llyn Bodgynydd is a natural lake. It is a popular spot for people who love nature. The lake offers great views of the hills nearby. It is a peaceful place to visit.
What's in a Name?
Locally, people often call this lake "Llyn Bod." They also call it "Bod Mawr," which means "big Bod." This helps to tell it apart from another, much smaller lake nearby. That smaller lake is called "Bod Bach," meaning "little Bod." You might also hear it called "Cors Bodgynydd reservoir." Water from the bigger lake flows into the smaller one.
A Lake with a Past
Both Llyn Bodgynydd and Bod Bach were once used as reservoirs. People built dams to hold back the water. This water was then used to power a large water wheel. The wheel helped run the nearby Pandora mine.
However, the lakes now hold less water than they used to. In 1970, the dam at Bod Bach was taken down. Also, the way water was controlled at Bod Mawr was changed. This means the lakes are not used for power anymore.
Home to Nature
An area next to the smaller lake, Bod Bach, is very special. It has been named the Cors Bodgynydd Nature Reserve. This reserve is important because it has many different kinds of plants and animals. It is a great place to see local wildlife.
