Exploring Loch Doire nam Mart

Loch Doire nam Mart is a great example of a Scottish loch. These freshwater lakes are often found in valleys carved by glaciers long ago. The loch's location on the Morvern peninsula means it's surrounded by stunning natural scenery.

How the Loch Was Measured

In 1904, a scientist named James Murray surveyed the loch. This was part of a bigger project called the Bathymetrical Survey of Fresh-Water Lochs of Scotland. Sir John Murray led this important survey, which measured the depths and shapes of many Scottish lochs. This helped people understand more about these unique bodies of water.

Fish and Fishing in the Loch

Loch Doire nam Mart is home to native wild brown trout. These fish are well-known for their beautiful spotted patterns. If you want to fish in the loch, you need to get special permission, often called a permit. This helps protect the fish and their natural home.
