Islands Lochindorb Castle

Lochindorb is a beautiful freshwater loch (which is the Scottish word for a lake). It is located north of Grantown on Spey in the Highland area of Scotland. The name Lochindorb comes from a Scottish Gaelic phrase, Loch nan Doirb, which means "loch of the minnows."

This loch is famous for an island in its middle. This island is believed to have been made by people a long time ago. On the island, you can see the old ruins of Lochindorb Castle. This castle used to be a strong home for the Clan Comyn. Lochindorb is a favorite place for people who enjoy fishing and watching birds. Many come to see special birds like black-throated divers and greylag geese. You can also find a small area of coniferous trees at the southeast side of the loch.
