Logrosán is a town in the province of Cáceres in Extremadura, Spain. It's known for its history and natural beauty. In the past, Logrosán was a busy place. During the 19th and 20th centuries, over 8,000 people lived here. This was because of its big role in the mining industry. Today, the town is managed by its local council.

Exploring Logrosán's Geography

Logrosán is in the south of the Cáceres province. It sits at the base of Las Villuercas, a part of the Montes de Toledo mountain range. The town is built on a large granite rock formation. This formation is called "Cerro de San Cristóbal." It came to the surface a very long time ago.

You can also see other rock formations here. These are made of quartzites and slates. They sometimes stick out of the ground. This creates a landscape that looks a bit like the Appalachian Mountains. The "Greenway of Las Vegas del Guadiana" also ends in this area. It is a path for walking or cycling.

Understanding Logrosán's Economy

Logrosán's economy is mostly based on farming and services. The farms in the area are very large. However, they don't create many jobs. There are no big factories or industries in Logrosán.

The service sector is important here. This includes things like local government services, shops, and places to stay. Even though the economy is not very strong, Logrosán is still important for the region. It provides key services like education and administration to nearby areas.

This forest stretches all the way to the nearby province of Badajoz.

Park of the Alcornocal

This park is also known as Los Alcornocales National Park. It's a small forest in the western part of the region. It has very old cork oaks. Some of these trees are dozens of meters tall. In the 1970s, this park became the main public park for the town. Today, it has sports fields, swimming pools, and a playground for kids. There is also a house of culture.
