Lomas Verdes facts for kids
Lomas Verdes is a planned community located in Naucalpan, State of Mexico. It's found northwest of Mexico City. This area started to be built in the late 1960s and is close to Ciudad Satélite, another planned community founded in 1957. The name "Lomas Verdes" means "Green Hills" in Spanish. It got this name because it used to have gentle hills covered in green grass and wild plants. Today, many houses cover those hills.
Lomas Verdes is made up of different parts or sections. These include La Alteña I, II, and III, La Soledad, Misiones, and sections I, II, III, IV, V, with section VI currently being built. To the north, Lomas Verdes is next to the area of Atizapán de Zaragoza. To the south and west, it borders other neighborhoods in Naucalpan. To the east, it is next to the old town of Santa Cruz del Monte.
When it was first built, Lomas Verdes was mainly a "bedroom community." This means that many people lived there but traveled to nearby México City (about 7 miles away) for their jobs. Today, Lomas Verdes has grown a lot. It now has many shops and services within the community itself. The main road in the area is Súper Avenida Lomas Verdes. This road connects the neighborhood to major highways like the Periferico and an elevated road that goes right into the center of Mexico City. Like many growing cities, Lomas Verdes has faced challenges. More people and cars mean traffic jams and sometimes more pollution. This can make daily life a bit harder for residents.
