London Springs is a small, unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States. An unincorporated community is a place that doesn't have its own local government. It's like a neighborhood that is part of a larger county.
London Springs is about 11 miles (18 km) south of Cottage Grove. It sits at an elevation of 896 feet (273 meters) above sea level. The community is located near the Coast Fork Willamette River, just south of Cottage Grove Lake.

History of London Springs and London
The community of London is very close to London Springs, less than a mile away. London used to have its own post office. This post office operated from 1902 until 1919.
The Amos Post Office
Before it was called London, the post office was named "Amos". It was located about two miles south of the current London area. The Amos post office started in 1898. It was named after John Amos Sutherland, whose father, John Sutherland, was the postmaster.
How London Got Its Name
Later, the post office moved to the community we now know as London. When it moved, its name changed to match the new location. A man named Levi Geer found a mineral spring here. People aren't sure why he decided to name the place "London."
Levi Geer and John Sutherland also ran a general store together. For a while, the post office was even located inside their store.
The Calapooya Mineral Springs Hotel
In 1904, Levi Geer opened a hotel called the Calapooya Mineral Springs Hotel in London. This hotel likely attracted visitors who wanted to experience the mineral springs.
Local Businesses and Research
Territorial Seed Company has a large farm in London Springs. This farm is 44 acres (18 hectares) big. They use it as a trial ground and for organic research. This means they test new seeds and study how to grow organic food there.
