About Lone Mountain
This area gets its name from a special hill called "Lone Mountain." This rocky hill stands by itself, separate from the Red Rock National Conservation Area. It's located northwest of central Las Vegas.
The top of Lone Mountain is about 560 feet higher than the land around it. From the summit, you can see amazing views of the city. You can also spot the Spring Mountains and Mt. Charleston. Around the base of Lone Mountain, there's a 3.2-mile trail. It's perfect for jogging, hiking, or even horseback riding!
Where is Lone Mountain?
Lone Mountain is right next to Summerlin on its north side. To the west, you'll find the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Cheyenne Avenue is to the south, and the U.S. Route 215 (Bruce Woodbury Beltway) is to the east. West Lone Mountain Road forms the northern border.
This neighborhood has a mix of homes. You can find some horse ranches here. There are also natural areas and parks to enjoy.
Safety and Community
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has its Academy in Lone Mountain. Right next to it is the Police Memorial Park. This park was created in 2009. It has a special Memorial Wall. There are also two groves of trees. These trees honor police officers who died while on duty. Two trees remember retired New York Police Officers. They were affected by the September 11, 2001 tragedy. Many police officers and their families live in this community. This helps keep the area very safe.
