The Lone Star Baptist Church, also known as the Redfield Historical Society Building, is a special old building in Redfield, Arkansas. It's a great example of a Baptist church from the early 1900s. People notice its simple outside look, which doesn't have a lot of fancy decorations.
This church was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2005. This means it's an important historical place in the country.
History of the Church Building
A group of African-American Baptist people started their church community in 1890. The church building itself was built in 1901.
For a while, it even served as a school for children in the countryside. This happened until a proper school building could be made. The church was used for services until 1976.
In 1993, the church members gave the building to the city of Redfield. Today, the Redfield Historical Society takes care of the building. It's used for special events like holiday choir shows, weddings, and public tours. You can visit by making an appointment.
