Loomis Brook is a small river, also called a brook, located in Delaware County, New York, in the United States. It's an important part of the local water system. This brook helps carry water across the land.

About Loomis Brook

Loomis Brook is a lovely waterway. It winds its way through the beautiful landscapes of Delaware County. Even though it's called a "brook" because it's smaller than a big river, it still plays a very important role in the area's environment.

Journey of the Brook

The journey of Loomis Brook begins at Teed Pond. This pond is its source, meaning it's where the brook starts. Teed Pond is quite high up, sitting about 2,031 feet (619 meters) above sea level.

From Teed Pond, the brook flows downhill. It travels through the natural landscape. Along its way, Loomis Brook picks up water from smaller streams. One of these smaller streams is called Windfall Brook.

Finally, Loomis Brook reaches its end. It flows into the Cannonsville Reservoir. This reservoir is much lower in elevation, about 1,148 feet (350 meters) above sea level. The Cannonsville Reservoir is a very large body of water. It is located northeast of a place called Stilesville. This reservoir is a key part of the water supply for New York City. So, Loomis Brook helps provide drinking water for many people!
