Where is Lorain Located?
Lorain is found in the southwestern part of Cambria County. It is right next to the city of Johnstown on its western side.

According to the census from the year 2000, there were 747 people living in Lorain. Most of the people living there were White (about 97%). A smaller number were African American or Asian.

How Lorain is Governed
Lorain is run by a Borough Council. This council makes decisions for the community. The town also has a mayor, who is currently Michael Hammers.

Lorain has important services to keep its residents safe.
Police and Ambulance Services
Police protection for Lorain is provided by the Stonycreek Township Police Department. They work under a special agreement with Lorain Borough. Ambulance services are handled by East Hills Ambulance. They offer both basic and advanced life support.
Fire Services
The Lorain Volunteer Fire Company helps protect the borough from fires. For a while, from 2002 to 2010, they worked out of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Company's building. The two fire companies often helped each other. In 2010, the Lorain Borough Fire Department and the Oakland Fire Department decided to join together to provide better fire protection for the area.
