Loredana Lanzani started her higher education in Italy. She earned her first university degree, called a laurea, from the University of Rome Tor Vergata in 1989.

After finishing her Ph.D., Dr. Lanzani began teaching at the University of Arkansas in 1997. She started as an assistant professor. Over time, she worked her way up, becoming a full professor in 2008. This means she became a top-level teacher and researcher at the university.
From 2011 to 2013, she also worked for the National Science Foundation. This is a U.S. government agency that supports science and engineering research. In 2014, she joined Syracuse University as a math professor, where she teaches today.
