Lorna Docken: A Métis Leader

Lorna Docken is known for her dedication to the Métis community. She has held several key positions within Métis organizations, helping to guide and strengthen her people.

Early Leadership Roles

Before becoming a president, Lorna Docken served in other important roles for the Métis Nation—Saskatchewan. This is a group that represents Métis people in the province of Saskatchewan. She was a vice-president, which means she helped lead the organization. Before that, she was the Secretary, handling important records and communications.

Leading the Métis Nation—Saskatchewan

In early 2004, Lorna Docken stepped up to serve as the interim President of the Métis Nation—Saskatchewan. An "interim" president is someone who takes charge for a short time until a new president is chosen. She took on this role when Clément Chartier, who was the president, moved on to become the president of the Métis National Council. The Métis National Council is a larger group that represents Métis people across Canada.

Lorna Docken did not run for re-election in May 2004. She had already contributed a lot to the organization in her various roles.

Family and Music

Lorna Docken is also the mother of a well-known Indigenous musician, Joey Stylez. She supports her son's career by working as his manager. This shows her continued involvement in the community, even beyond her political roles.
