Discovering the Islands
A long time ago, in 1499, a Spanish explorer named Alonso de Ojeda sailed past these islands. His group of ships saw the archipelago, which is a fancy word for a group of islands. There are ten islands in total that make up Los Frailes.

The ten islands in the Los Frailes group are:
- Chepere
- Guacaraida

- Nabobo

Exploring the Islands
The biggest island in the group is called Fraile Grande. It is also known as Puerto Real. This island is about 2,200 meters (or 2.2 kilometers) long. It covers an area of about 1.92 square kilometers.
The southern part of the islands has a small hill. This hill reaches a height of about 91 meters. About 8 kilometers north of Los Frailes, there is a single rock sticking out of the water. It is called Roca del Norte (North Rock) and is about 3 meters high.
