Los Nogales is a very old house in Seguin, Texas. It was built in the 1800s and is one of the oldest buildings still standing there. It's special because it's the last house in Seguin made from adobe, which are sun-dried mud bricks. Today, Los Nogales is a museum that teaches people about history.

History of Los Nogales
This historic house was first built in 1849. It was made for a person named Justus Gombert. Even though it has been fixed up, the house still has its original walls. These walls are made from hand-made, sun-dried adobe bricks. The roof is also original, covered with cypress wood shingles.
Owners of the House
Over the years, Los Nogales had different owners. In 1859, Joseph Zorn owned the house. Later, in 1870, a famous person named Benjamin McCulloch took possession of it. This building shows what a simple, early home looked like. It even has a pioneer-style kitchen and a cellar dug into the ground.
Saving the Historic Home
In 1951, people in Seguin worked together to save Los Nogales. They wanted to fix up the old house. This effort led to the creation of the Seguin Conservation Society. This group helps protect other historic places in the area.
The First Post Office
Did you know that the first Seguin Post Office was on the same land as Los Nogales? A very important person, Senator Juan Seguin, helped start a mail route to Seguin. Because of this, the building was sometimes called the "Juan Seguin Post Office." What was really unique was that this mail office was operated from an old tree-house!
Becoming a Historic Place
On March 24, 1972, Los Nogales was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is officially recognized as an important historical site in the United States.
Los Nogales Museum
Today, Los Nogales is a museum for the community. It holds many old items from the local area. These artifacts help tell the story of Seguin's past. The museum is sometimes open for tours, so visitors can step back in time and see what life was like long ago.
