Losoya is a small community in Bexar County, Texas, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city does. In the year 2000, about 322 people lived there. Losoya is also part of the larger San Antonio area.
Losoya's Past
People first started settling in the area now known as Losoya after the Civil War. This was a long time ago!
A post office opened in Losoya in 1879. It was first called Lecomteville, named after its first postmaster, Leon Lecomte. Later, its name was changed to Losoya. Some people think "Losoya" might have been a mistake when writing the name of some early settlers, the Laysawyers.
In 1878, Losoya had about 100 people living there. By the early 1900s, the community had a church and a few stores. The number of people living in Losoya went down for a while. It was 89 in 1910 and then 75 from 1930 to 1940.
However, as the nearby city of San Antonio grew bigger, Losoya also started to grow. Its population jumped to 322 people between 1990 and 2000.
A very important event in history, the Battle of Medina, happened in this area on August 18, 1813.
