Lothian is a community in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. It is called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own city government. Instead, it is managed as part of the larger Anne Arundel County.
Lothian is located about 12 miles southwest of Annapolis, which is the capital city of Maryland. It is also about 24 miles east of Washington, D.C. and 31 miles south of Baltimore. In 2010, the community had a population of 6,643 people.
