Playing Defence in Hockey

In ice hockey, a defenceman is a player whose main job is to stop the other team from scoring goals. They play mostly in their own team's end of the rink. Defencemen also help their team start attacks. They pass the puck up to the forwards.

What a Defenceman Does

A defenceman needs to be strong and good at skating backwards. They block shots and check opposing players. They also need to be good at handling the puck. This helps them move the puck out of their defensive zone. Luigi Marcon was known for his strong defensive play.
