Louis Charles Nistico (born January 25, 1953 – died November 27, 2020) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He played as a left wing. Lou played in two major leagues: the National Hockey League (NHL) and the World Hockey Association (WHA). His teams included the Colorado Rockies, Toronto Toros, and Birmingham Bulls.
After his playing career, Lou Nistico became a General Manager (GM) and Coach. He worked at the Junior A level in the CJHL (now CCHL). He helped teams win championships in Ottawa. He was also a GM for the Kanata Stallions and an assistant GM for the Hawkesbury Hawks. Lou passed away in 2020 at the age of 67.

Lou Nistico's Hockey Journey
Lou Nistico was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. He grew up playing ice hockey. He became known for his skill as a left wing.
Early Hockey Years
Lou started his hockey career in junior leagues. He played for the Westfort Hurricanes in the Thunder Bay Junior A Hockey League. He also played for the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA). During his junior years, he showed great potential. He scored many goals and assists. He also had a reputation for being a tough player.
Playing in the WHA and NHL
In 1973, Lou Nistico was drafted by two professional leagues. The Minnesota North Stars picked him in the NHL draft. The Toronto Toros picked him in the WHA draft. He chose to play in the WHA first.
He played 186 games in the WHA. He scored 44 goals and made 72 assists. This gave him a total of 116 points. He also spent a lot of time in the penalty box. He played for the Toronto Toros and the Birmingham Bulls.
Later in his career, Lou played 3 games in the NHL. He joined the Colorado Rockies during the 1977–78 season.
After His Playing Days
After retiring as a player, Lou Nistico stayed involved in hockey. He became a General Manager and Coach. He worked with junior hockey teams. He helped develop young players.
He was the GM and Coach for the Ottawa Junior Senators. He led them to win championships. This showed his leadership skills. He also worked with the Kanata Stallions. He was an assistant GM for the Hawkesbury Hawks. Lou Nistico dedicated much of his life to the sport of hockey.
