Love Inc.'s Music Journey
Love Inc. had their first big hit song in Canada called "Broken Bones". This song won the award for Best Video at the 1998 MuchMusic Video Awards. "Broken Bones" was very popular, reaching number 6 on the Canadian airplay charts.
In the same year, they released another hit song, "You're a Superstar". This song became their only hit in the United States. It reached number 22 on the Billboard dance music chart in 1999. Other popular songs that followed were "Who Do You Love" and "Homeless" in 1999.
In 1999, Brad Daymond left the group to work on other music projects. He became a successful remixer and producer with Alex Greggs, forming a duo called "Riprock & Alex G". After Love Inc.'s first album, Chris Sheppard and Simone Denny continued as a duo. In 2000, they released their second album, Into the Night. This album included songs like "Come On (It's Only Love)" and "Here Comes the Sunshine". It was their last album.
Love Inc. had five songs that reached the number 1 spot on the Canadian Dance Charts. Their first album, Love Inc., was the only dance album made in Canada to sell over 100,000 copies. This is called "platinum certification".
The group also worked with other talented music producers and songwriters. These included Peter Ries from Germany, Vincent DeGiorgio, Doug Laurent, and Dan Hill.
A few years after the group stopped making music together, their songs became popular in other countries. "You're a Superstar" and "Broken Bones" became big hits in the UK and Ireland. "You're a Superstar" stayed at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart for four weeks in 2002. "Broken Bones" reached number 8 in 2003. Their song "Do Ya (Feel The Love)" was also featured on the soundtrack for the TV show Queer As Folk. "You're a Superstar" was also heard in the background of the Christmas special finale of The Office.
In 2003, Simone Denny sang on a song called "All Things (Just Keep Getting Better)" by Widelife. This song became the theme song for the TV show Queer Eye For The Straight Guy.
In 2013, Simone Denny started performing again. She toured as "Love Inc. Featuring Simone Denny," singing the band's songs at clubs across Canada.
Sadly, Brad Daymond passed away in 2018 at the age of 48. He was a talented musician and producer.
