Lower South Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Silver Falls State Park in Oregon, a state in the United States. This amazing park is found near the city of Salem, in Marion County. The waterfall sits in a special area where the Mount Hood National Forest meets the Middle Santiam Wilderness.
Silver Falls State Park is famous for its many waterfalls. Lower South Falls is one of several impressive waterfalls you can find there. Others include South Falls, Drake Falls, Middle North Falls, and Winter Falls. They are all part of the park's popular "Trail of Ten Falls."
Where is Lower South Falls?
Lower South Falls is formed by the flow of South Silver Creek. It is located on the western side of the park's famous Trail of Ten Falls. You can find it along the Canyon Trail, about a mile north of another well-known waterfall called South Falls.
What makes Lower South Falls extra special? It's one of only four waterfalls in Silver Falls State Park where the hiking trail actually goes behind the falling water! This gives visitors a unique and exciting view from a different perspective. Imagine walking right behind a curtain of water!
