Lubbub is a small place in Pickens County, Alabama, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it does not have its own local government, unlike a city or town.
You can find Lubbub along Alabama State Route 159. It is about 8.8 miles (14.2 km) north of a town called Gordo.
The Story of Lubbub: A Warm History
Lubbub got its name from a nearby stream, Lubbub Creek. The word "Lubbub" comes from the Choctaw language. This is a language spoken by the Choctaw people, a Native American tribe. In Choctaw, the word lahba means "warm."
Past Times in Lubbub
For many years, Lubbub had its own post office. It opened in 1834 and helped people send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for a long time, finally closing in 1907.
In 2011, a very strong tornado passed close to Lubbub. This tornado was part of a huge weather event called the 2011 Super Outbreak.
