What is Lucario Like?
Lucario looks a lot like a jackal, which is a type of wild dog. It stands about four feet tall. Its hands are black, and it has a white spike on each wrist. There's also a third spike on its chest! Lucario's nose and ears are longer than its earlier form, Riolu. It has a furry yellow body, and its hips look like blue shorts.
Lucario has an amazing ability to feel the Aura in all living things. This means it can even read their thoughts! A very well-trained Lucario can sense Auras from creatures over half a mile away. It can also speak human languages using its telepathic powers.
Where Lucario Appears
In the Games
Lucario shows up in many Pokémon games. In the Nintendo DS games Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, you'll see Lucario used by Maylene, who is a Gym Leader. It's also a partner for a character named Riley and is used by Cynthia, the Sinnoh Champion.
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Lucario is famous as the best rescue leader ever! If you earn 15,000 Rescue Points, you'll reach the top rank, called the "Lucario rank." A statue of Lucario will even be placed outside your rescue base!
Lucario is also a fighter in the Super Smash Bros. Brawl game. It uses cool attacks like Aura Sphere, Force Palm, and ExtremeSpeed. Its powerful final move is called Aura Storm.
In Pokémon X and Y, you can get a free Lucario from a character named Korrina. This Lucario can even change into a super-strong form called Mega Lucario! It does this by using a special item called a Lucarionite.
In the Anime Shows
Lucario had a big role in the eighth Pokémon movie, Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. In this movie, Lucario was a loyal helper to Sir Aaron in a castle called Cameron Palace. Sir Aaron taught Lucario how to use its Aura powers. Lucario saw Sir Aaron as both its master and a close friend.
At the start of the movie, Sir Aaron trapped Lucario in a magic staff. Because of this, Lucario started to wonder if Pokémon and humans could really be friends. The Lucario in the movie could also speak human languages without needing psychic powers. Lucario bravely saved the Tree of Beginning, but it meant sacrificing itself. However, in the credits, you can see it with Sir Aaron, eating a chocolate bar!
Maylene, the Gym Leader, also has a Lucario in the anime, just like in the games. Her Lucario was seen in four episodes. It helped stop a battle and fought against other Pokémon. It battled Dawn's Pokémon and later Ash's Pokémon in Gym battles. Lucario even helped Ash and his friends defeat Saturn and Team Galactic!
In the Manga Comics
Lucario also appears in the Pokémon Adventures manga comics. In these comics, Riley owns a Lucario. Riley meets Diamond on Iron Island, and he helps Diamond improve his Pokémon battling skills.
In another manga series, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!, the main character, Hareta, gets a Riolu egg. This egg hatches into a Riolu, which later evolves into a powerful Lucario!
