Lucia Žitňanská (born on June 3, 1964) is a politician from Slovakia. She is a member of the political party called Most–Híd. She held important roles in the Slovak government.
From 2016 to 2018, she was the Minister of Justice in the government led by Robert Fico. This job means she was in charge of making sure laws were fair and followed. She also served as Minister of Justice from 2010 to 2012 under Iveta Radičová. Earlier, in 2006, she was both the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice.

Lucia Žitňanská's Legal Career
Before her political career, Lucia Žitňanská worked as a lawyer. In January 2013, she decided to renew her license to practice law. This meant she could work as a lawyer again.
Since June 2013, she has also been listed as an arbitrator. An arbitrator is someone who helps solve disagreements outside of court. She was on the list for the Vienna Arbitration Court.

Lucia Žitňanská has been involved in Slovak politics for many years. She has been a member of different political parties.
Her Role in the 2012 Election
In the 2012 Slovak parliamentary election, Lucia Žitňanská received a lot of support. She got many more votes than other important leaders in her party, SDKÚ-DS. For example, she received 103,517 votes. This was much more than the party chairman, Mikuláš Dzurinda, who got 56,771 votes.
After the election, Mr. Dzurinda said he would not try to become the party leader again. He supported Lucia Žitňanská to take his place. However, at the SDKÚ-DS meeting in May 2012, she did not win the leadership role. Pavol Frešo became the new leader instead.
Later, in November, Lucia Žitňanská became the head of her party's group in parliament. But on December 12, 2013, she decided to leave the SDKÚ-DS party. Two other politicians, Miroslav Beblavý and Magdaléna Vášáryová, left with her.
Serving as Minister of Justice
On April 8, 2014, Lucia Žitňanská joined the Most–Híd political party. She had been an independent politician before this. She was offered a high position in the party, but she decided not to take it.
Leaving Politics in 2018
In the 2016 Slovak parliamentary election, Lucia Žitňanská was a very important candidate for the Most–Híd party. She was second on their list of candidates. After the election, President Andrej Kiska appointed her as the Minister of Justice.
As Minister of Justice, she also became the chairperson of the Legislative Council of the Slovak Government in May. This council helps create new laws. In June 2017, she spoke out about a person who wanted to join the Judicial Council.
On March 14, 2018, Lucia Žitňanská decided not to continue in the new government led by Peter Pellegrini. She said she could not agree with the other political parties. She also left the Most-Híd party later that year, on September 20.
