Legal Career and Expertise
Before becoming a full-time politician, Lucia Žitňanská worked in the legal field. In 2013, she decided to renew her license to practice law. She joined a law firm called TaylorWessing e/n/w/c. A law firm is a business where lawyers work together to help people with legal issues.
Since June 2013, she has also been listed as an arbitrator for the Vienna Arbitration Court. An arbitrator is like a judge who helps solve disagreements between people or companies outside of a regular court.

Lucia Žitňanská has had a significant career in Slovak politics. She has held various important positions in the government.
Early Political Roles
In 2006, she served as both the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Justice for Slovakia. She held the role of Minister of Justice again from 2010 to 2012. During this time, she was part of the government led by Iveta Radičová.
Elections and Party Changes
In the 2012 Slovak parliamentary election, Lucia Žitňanská received many votes. She got more votes than some other important leaders in her party, SDKÚ-DS. After this election, she was considered a strong leader within her party.
However, in 2013, she decided to leave the SDKÚ-DS party. Later, in April 2014, she joined the Most–Híd party. This party confirmed her as a new member.
Minister of Justice (2016-2018)
After the 2016 Slovak parliamentary election, Lucia Žitňanská was appointed Minister of Justice once more. This appointment was made by President Andrej Kiska. She also became the chairperson of the Legislative Council of the Slovak Government. This council helps create new laws for the country.
In 2017, she spoke out about a candidate for the Judicial Council. The Judicial Council is a group that helps manage judges and courts.
Leaving Politics
In March 2018, Lucia Žitňanská decided not to continue in the new government. She explained that she could not agree with her political partners on some important issues. Later that year, in September 2018, she also resigned from the Most–Híd party. This marked her departure from active politics.
