Luciano Galletti's Football Journey
Starting Out in Argentina and Italy
Luciano Galletti was born in La Plata, Argentina. His football journey began at Estudiantes de La Plata, just like his father, Rubén Horacio Galletti, who was also a right-wing forward in the 1970s. In his second season with Estudiantes, Luciano scored one goal in 24 games.
In 1999, Luciano moved to Italy to join Parma A.C.. However, he didn't get to play much for their main team. Later that year, he moved to S.S.C. Napoli, a team in Italy's second division, Serie B. He was on loan from Estudiantes and returned to his home club for the 2000-2001 season.
Success with Real Zaragoza
In 2001, Luciano Galletti signed with Real Zaragoza in Spain. He played his first game in La Liga, Spain's top league, on August 26. Zaragoza lost that game 1-2 against RCD Espanyol. In his first year, he played 27 matches and scored two goals, but the team was relegated to a lower division.
After that, Luciano became a very important player for Zaragoza. He always played in at least 34 games each season. In the 2003-2004 season, he helped his team win the Copa del Rey, which is a major Spanish cup competition. He scored the winning goal in a thrilling 3-2 victory against Real Madrid in extra time.
Playing for Atlético Madrid
On July 29, 2005, Luciano joined another big Spanish team, Atlético Madrid, for €4 million. He scored his first league goal for Atlético on October 27 in a 3-0 home win against Cádiz CF.
In his second season with Atlético, Luciano scored four goals in 36 games. The team finished in seventh place in the league that year.
Winning Trophies with Olympiacos
On June 30, 2007, Luciano moved to Olympiacos F.C. in Greece. He signed a four-year contract. On May 2, 2009, he scored Olympiacos' fourth goal in the Greek Cup final against AEK Athens F.C.. His goal gave his team a 4-3 lead. He was sent off the field right after scoring, but Olympiacos still won the game and the cup after a penalty shootout.
In that same season, he scored 14 goals, which was his best scoring record. He helped Olympiacos win the national championship. After this successful season, he signed a new contract with the club until 2013.
Health Challenges and Comeback
